Historical Overview
The Mara de Oro International Foundation was established on October 10, 1955, by the Journalist Guillermo Sánchez García, with the idea of promoting the work of those professionals who dignify and promote the business world, performing and growing in areas such as: media, culture, sports, cinema, arts and entertainment. As well as the entrepreneurs who make technological, communicational, scientific development possible, with national and international projection.
This award celebrates its sixty-eighth anniversary since its foundation and has managed to maintain itself uninterruptedly, rewarding the best of the best from the State of Zulia and the entire national territory, managing to transcend beyond our borders, recognizing the work of various personalities in Colombia, Mexico, the United States, and the United States. USA, Panama, Puerto Rico, Europe, Argentina among others.
The Mara de Oro is a non-profit award where the chosen candidates come from different parts of the world. It should be noted that it is the only award that has an international certification and recognition, making it known that our team has always been free of commitments and that our trajectory maintains us as the Most Credible Award uninterruptedly at the National and International level. Who are we?

The Mara de Oro Foundation of Venezuela and International, is a non-profit organization created by journalist Guillermo Sánchez García, on October 10, 1955, in order to highlight the best of the best, from the city of Maracaibo – Zulia State.
As time went by, the organization strengthened its objectives, managing to position itself at the national level as the award with the longest trajectory, support, credibility and respect in all of Latin America, passing from generation to generation. Achieving countless face-to-face deliveries in various cities of the country, as well as international awards through our delegates. After the death of its creator, which occurred in 1988, the foundation was chaired by Hender González, who has always served as part of the board of directors of this organization, maintaining the values and principles of the outstanding journalist Guillermo Sánchez García.
For more than 60 years of impeccable work, different personalities have been recognized nationally and internationally. It should be noted that the MARA DE ORO is the only award that has certification in the country; and it is accompanied by different documents that endorse each award according to the specific area. In the same way, we make it known that our selection has always been free of commitments, and our uninterrupted trajectory keeps us as the Award of Greatest Credibility uninterruptedly at the Regional, National and International level, adding throughout our history more than Five Thousand awards granted, being able to prove with a sample of the last 5 years, where we have delivered more than 500 awards, this award is given to the most outstanding people in the area, by annual record, adding throughout our history more than six thousand awards, being able to prove with a sample of the last 10 years, where we have awarded more than 600
Recently, in 2023 we managed to make the first special delivery from the "Los Roques" Archipelago National Park, managing to bring together prominent personalities from Venezuela, Chile, Spain, Hungary in the same place, being so far the most emblematic Edition within the framework of our Sixty-Eighth Anniversary, where we continue to "AWARD THE BEST OF THE BEST", from Venezuela to the world.

Board of directors
The legal representation throughout the 68 years of history has been made up of journalists, since its creator GUILLERMO SÁNCHEZ GARCÍA. Then, presided over by Hender González for more than 4 uninterrupted decades, a recognized Zuliano, for his values and principles in favor of maintaining the legacy of the founder of such a prestigious organization.
For her part, Attorney Emelina Carrasquero Montes who acted under the figure of Vice President and legal advisor at the national and international level of the Mara de Oro Foundation of Venezuela for more than 15 years, being at all times the right hand for decision-making in legal matters of the Foundation. She has assumed the Presidency since the death of Hender González in September 2021, being historically the first Zulian woman to preside over such an important award.
Currently, being two main figures, they are the ones who make up the board of directors of the Mara de Oro Foundation of Venezuela and International. Together accompanied by a group of Delegates, Members of the Jury, Bagpipe Committee, among others.
